GET TO KNOW ME

Hi, I am Mary Ann Gatbonton. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to learn more about

me. I'm a registered nurse who is passionate about leading change to support my

community. Most of my career has been in public health in the area of reproductive, child

and family health. Over the last decade, I've shifted my focus to project management and

health promotion to expand opportunities to explore complex problems and identify

upstream solutions. This has given me the chance to hold leadership roles to further enhance my interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships within all levels of government and organizations. This experience enables me to collaborate and engage to a network of diverse stakeholders aligning with my organization's strategic goals and objectives.

My experience in strategic planning and developing health promotion plans has allowed me to find synergies with key stakeholders to promote an integrated communication approach to support Toronto residents. With over 10 years of experience as a Health Promotion Specialist, I've created strong linkages to community programs and developed innovative strategies to promote health services. I have also been able to foster my nursing roots in supporting perinatal individuals experiencing depression/anxiety through my role as a Research Intervention Counsellor providing behaviour activation therapy.

On a personal note, to keep me grounded, I spend lots of time with my family (which includes my wonderful labradoodle dog) and friends. This pandemic has made me cherish this time even more! Travelling and having life experiences by having a variety of adventures and learning about different cultures is what my family enjoys the most.
